The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to launch an operation against 117 agro-farmhouses – a news source reported.
The civic body has set January 14 to be the operation’s commencement date. It has also requested the interior secretary to grant magisterial and police cover for the effort.
The farmhouses in question have covered area that exceeds the legal limit of 9,500 square feet. CDA has decided to launch the operation on Supreme Court orders.
Previously, a survey was conducted to ascertain the built-up area of plots allotted for agro-farming. The findings revealed that 117 farms had been constructed on an area exceeding the permissible limit. The authorities concerned later issued show-cause notices to the owners of the farmhouses in question.
The Supreme Court had last year fixed the covered area at 9,500 square feet. It also barred CDA from sanctioning constructions in excess of the prescribed limit.
