The district administration has launched a crackdown against the owners of illegal colonies built on agricultural land, a news source reported. The action was launched on the directions of Multan Development Authority (MDA) Director General Imran Sikandar Baloch.
The owners of these illegal colonies have failed to deposit the requisite fees for the conversion of agricultural land into residential colonies. MDA DG also directed the officials concerned to cordon off colonies to prevent the transfer of the plots in these housing projects.
The information relating to illegal colonies has been made available on the MDA website to facilitate the public. MDA has also advertised in several newspapers, according to Baloch. He said the owners of the illegal colonies will be forced to follow the by-laws.
He said that during the second phase of this crackdown, action will be taken against colonies that attained initial sanction but failed to follow it up with all the requisite approvals.
